You know how your particular business works. We know how to create databases. So, the first stage is for us to get as much info as we can on the business processes you need to automate.
We may need to ask you lots of questions, but the upside is that you really get a lot of say over how the system will look and how it will work.
In some instances, we may already have a database which is 90% of what you need. If not, some sample database screens can be mocked up as a starting point for discussion.
Either way, an "outline specification" will be produced, which is a description of how we see your database working. At this point, we can also provide you with a firm price for the database development.
If you like the outline spec, we can then get the ball rolling by producing an "Alpha" version.
